Hi Bobby, Welcome to the forum.

There is loads of information on keeping your plant on this site and forum but to get you going here are three golden rules

1. As much sun light as possible

2. Rain/RO or Distilled Water

3. A winter dormancy

Stick to these three rule and you'll be ok

Any question just ask, we are here to help

Hello Bobby and welcome to flytrapcare! Carl already gave you the golden rules. Follow those and you plant will do well. The only thing I'd like to add to that is soil -- it must be nutrient poor soil. Most growers use a combination of peat moss and perlite and/or sand. I'm guessing your plant came potted already, so you probably don't need to worry about soil for a while, but when you do, be sure to use those ingredients.

welcome to the flytrapcare community!

let the traps catch bugs on its own.
put a tray or bowl underneath the pot so that you can water from the bottom, this lets the soil suck water itself when it needs it.

Welcome bobby!!!

Take a look around, read the articles on the main page- there's some great info there on the care and cultivation on flytraps. Any other questions, keep asking! There's a ton of great folks on here who will try to help you out as best they can (They've certainly helped me out a bunch!)

Hey bobby,
Welcome to the site!
As others have already posted, follow the golden rules of distilled or rain water only, a peat and perlite medium (No Miracle Grow or "ehnanced" stuff) and lots of sun and you will be OK.
VFT's are tougher than most people think and seem to do well if the rules are followed.

Good luck with your plant and again welcome.
Peace!

Wow! I guessed I arrived a little late huh? Well Bobby, Matt and everyone else already gave you the three basic steps. Distilled water, Lots of sunlight, and a winter dormancy. (They go into dormancy naturally under cold weather... I think) And remember, use mineral-free sphagnum peat moss. (None from Miracle-growth please!) Anyways, I bid you good luck with your venus flytrap!
