The USDA has released the 2023 update for the plant hardiness zone map. My location has officially moved from the edge of 7b/8a squarely into 8a; 7b has retreated farther north and west.

Wisconsin's SE coast, including Milwaukee has moved up to zone 6A from zone 5B.

Similar to optique, we've been in a "gray area" of 8A/8B...we're now firmly planted in 8B, near the center. Looks like the line for the "gray area" of the juncture of 8A and 8B shifted to the north by 50-75 miles or so.

Whelp, now I'm straddling the border between 8a and 8b. Dropped almost an entire zone from 7b.

Interesting map. We've gone from 5a to 5b and yet, just a few years back, we had a zone 4b Winter. Lesson? Hope for the best but plan for the worst.
