note: please also see this other great guide written by user "Grey", called "the long list of supplies and their suppliers
----------------------

i thought it might be handy to see what tools, equipment and handy little knick-knacks everyone uses with their CP's/plants?

it'd be great to see a picture of it, so if others like it they can go looking for a similar item in their country and know what it looks like.

doesnt matter about where you actually got it.

so lets see your cp gear !

peat pot press (just found it, might be handy for the diy'ers out there)
http://www.gardengrapevine.com/PeatPotPress.html

peat pots - i use the muffin size ones
made of peat, they are "compostable pots" which can be planted as is, into the ground allowing the plant to expand without root disturbance. (thanks to linton for pointing these out to me)
Image

i put all my peat through a soil sieve. it removes all the bits of sticks and breaks up the clumps.

plant tags (use a quality weatherproof texta or pencil)
i use staedtler lumocolor, its the only texta ive found thats water proof and fade proof for several years.
(we use these at work on a shiney plastic label. they sit unprotected in direct weather for several years with only a little bit of fading.
or if you use black pots you could get a white paint texta and write on the side

Rockwool Cubes!

Although I haven't used these myself, they may come in handy for Nepenthes keepers. The cubes are designed so seedlings and root cuttings can gently be placed and allowed to grow, and when they are large enough they can be moved with minimal root disturbance.

Edit: Rockwool is made of fibreglass and does not come from sheep. Thank you BradR for clearing that up for us!

"Grodan Rockwool Cutting Cubes - 36mm (1") Cubes for Cutting or Seedlings. Grodan Rockwool is high quality Rockwool, a leading product in the Worlds commercial and hobby grow market. Grodan has a higher density than alternative brands and with its air and water holding capacity as well as being sterile makes a excellent medium for propagation of Nepenthes cuttings."

info from Little Shop of Horrors xD So basically.. I'm assuming it's from sheep.
