Hi there all.

I am still very new growing Sarracenia plants. The only plants I have at this stage is a few young plants I bought from a local grower here in SA.

1 Of my plants makes deformed pitchers. They seem so start out OK but as they grow, then they get this light brown marks resembling scars. The pitcher will then grow with a kink starting around the marks. Some will end up with hoods that is skew. What can be the cause of this?

They were transplanted recently but these leaves in question came out after transplanting.

You might need to resize the pictures smaller. They are taking forever to load for me.

Same here. Shrink them down to something like 1024 x 768 and then repost.

Thanks, will try that. They are now around 900x1300 for the one and 1200x1600 for the other. I will see if I can make them smaller.

I'm unable to get the pictures to download, so can't see the problem.
Last summer I had a thrips infestation that caused the deformities you described. Do your plants resemble this? If so, get some Capt Jack's Dead Bug Brew and give them a good spraying. Wait a week, then repeat.

Thank you Gary. Yes my plants are somewhat like that but not as bad as yours.

I will read up on thrips and see what is available here on out side.

Thanks Panman, but Captian Jack is not a regular in South Africa so he's Dead Bug Brew is not for sale over here. The only way I will be able to use it is if there is a recipe available for it.
