Due to increased grass in my Sun-Gro LFSM I have decided to start nuking my LFSM. What is the recommended amount of time I should do this for? Thank you

boiling it in water will destroy seeds, but i think that will also destroy the cellular structure that gives LFSM its moisture retention abilities...

I find grass pretty easy to identify and pluck. Might not be worth it, unless you are getting a lot? With Besgrow it's almost a non-issue.

With besgrow and gublers LFSM, I have no problem as I only get a few grasses here and there which are easy to pluck out.

I've also had almost zero grasses with Andean LFSM.

Out of curiosity though if you did want to nuke it how long would it take? I was actually curious about this before. And I believe it sterilizes it which seems like a bonus?

I sometimes buy unprocessed grains and sterilize it in the oven before storing inside the house. Bake at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes, this kills off mold spores and mite eggs.

If you are going to use a microwave, soak the LFSM in water first. Otherwise it will start a fire. Nuke time would be however long it takes to boil a similar size cup of water in the microwave. About 3 minutes in my 900 watt oven.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I wouldn’t have thought that LFSM would catch fire
