Just a random seed from typical vft pack. Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough :D
Oh for sure! I got a few grown plants from Lowe’s that turned out super nice once they got passed their time in the death cubes. I’m hoping to try tissue culture next year and see if I can work on cloning some of them.

Let us know how the TC goes. I put mine on pause due to not having the space. Once I am fully recovered from my surgery I will be able to design and build something suitable, albeit somewhat small.

What kind of thing are you thinking of building?

Not quite sure. Possibly putting up another wall in garage to divide off an area. Not sure if I want to get that in to it though.

Oh wow! Like a separate area for tissue culture? I’ll admit I haven’t really looked into it as I’m still trying to up my success rates with flower stalk cuttings, but I didn’t realize it was the kind of endeavor that needed so much space specifically set aside for it. You’ve piqued my interest and also upped my apprehension a tad.

Yea, I could decide to open up some space where my current grow tents and greenhouse are located but it would be a bit tight. Not to mention I retire in a couple years and not sure if I will be here long enough.
The quicker alternative I have had good luck with is test tube propagation and placing stems of some drosera in live moss also works, especially for "T" Binata's, they grow rather quickly.

Ok, gotcha.
Any tips for test tube prop?

Just make sure they are clean when you start. I place the ID labels on the test tubes so I am only assuming since they are not directly hit by the light it keeps mold from growing. Not sure why but the only ones that had very little signs of mold were the ones that did not strike.

Do you mean that the labels are between the test tubes and the lights? I’ve been doing it the opposite way - sticking the tubes into the holes on the sides of those plant stands we both have. I haven’t been successful yet, though. An interesting (to me) note is that one has a bit of media in it. The other does not, but the water in the one without the sprinkling of media is greenish, compared to the clear water of the one with the peat(?) in it.

Yes, The ones with the labels facing away are the ones I got strikes on. Here is a link to my first ever. Note how clean the water is. Stroke of luck I guess.

Sorry, hang on. Labels facing away from the lights? Or toward the lights (facing up)?
