I want to expand my collection of CPs and there are some really cool sundews that need sand in their soil mix (tuberous, wooly, etc,). However, I don't know what to look for in the sand. For example, is there a difference between horticultural sand and silica sand? What things should I look for in the sand?

Yes there is a difference. Silica sand has near zero tds. Any other sand has high tds. You can check by putting some sand in a container and pouring vinegar on it. If it fizzes/bubbles don't use it-BAD.
