The recommended strength is 1/4 tsp per gallon in order to more easily avoid overuse. I know many people who have burned out their plants with too strong of a solution. With the recommended strength, you can fill up Sarracenia pitchers, Nepenthes pitchers, put a drop on every paddle of a sundew, every leaf of a Pinguicula, and foliar feed your Flytraps without much fear of burning them out unless they're seedlings.
Once you get more experience with it, like nimbulan, then you can increase the strength as you see fit. Your local environment may allow the plants to metabolize the nutrients faster, other environments may not promote as fast of usage, necessitating the weaker solution.
You don't need Maxsea for your plants, even in winter. But it is nice to give them a little boost in the springtime to get things moving.
