Recently got this VFT which was marked as "Dingley Giant", did expect the traps to be a bit bigger and less of them but was quite the opposite. Is this normal for the early growth stages?

Yes, completely normal.
Plants need to have time to reach their full potential. They don't just spring forth, fully mature.

They're still youngsters (FYI - you have 4 to 6 growth points in that pot :D ). Give them some time to grow up, and they should look nice!
