Hi everyone - I'm realizing I should have done this a while ago but this evening I finally decided to re-pot my adult flytrap that had been looking dismal and sort of slowly rotting away for months. I was wondering if anyone might have some insight as to its odds of survival or if there's anything I can do to improve its prognosis. When I removed it from its potting mix I noticed that there was a white powdery substance around the growth point, which I'm assuming was the underlying culprit (I suppose?). Either way, after picking away the dead parts I found myself left with this....

I was feeling encouraged by the bit of light green towards what I guess is the rhizome but maybe that's on its way towards dying as well?

I decided to make an attempt at repotting it all the same and ended up with this....

Does the sphagnum-level look like it's high enough as it already is, or should I add in some more? Thanks very much for the help!!

I hate to say it, but I think it's a gonner (but you never know with plants, so don't give up on it yet). There seems to be very little living tissue, probably not enough to help it pull through. The white powder could be a mold of some sort.
Sorry.
