Gosh, I've had twins before, but never triplets! I'm guessing a double-trapped leaf somehow got merged with a single-trap leaf. (A transporter accident like on Star Trek?!) With three heads, it looks like it should be named Cerberus instead of Dutch Delight. (Or maybe "Fluffy" if you're a Harry Potter fan!) It's almost completely overshadowing one of my poor little baby Red Piranhas.

I really doubt this is a stable mutation. (I haven't heard anything about any radiation spills nearby lately!) The other new leaf coming up looks totally regular so far, so it's probably more like a freaky but totally natural random chance occurrence like a four-leaf clover.

Okay, time for an update... All three traps are open and ready for business now, with an extra special surprise bonus -- the double traps are actually *conjoined* twins! I don't know if I should be excited, or worried that something in the environment here is going to make a third ear start growing out of the middle of my forehead!

That is bizarre! Does the conjoined one close? The two headed one I have is only conjoined at the fold/hinge of the trap, the actual trap sides are separate from each other.

I haven't tried triggering it to see if it will close. I'm so in awe, I'm afraid I might mess the whole thing up! I kinda doubt it could close properly, so if it ever catches anything, the enzymes will probably leak out and ruin *both* sides of the trap(s). :(

I've had both kinds of double "twin" traps before, and for some reason, both instances happened in 2012. One of my Jaws plants grew two traps on one leaf in July that summer, but they were separate from each other:

Later that same year, while my plants were going dormant in November, my Fine Tooth x Red developed two conjoined traps, very similar to the one I have now:

I never thought I'd ever see one like that again, especially with another regular trap hitching along for the ride on conjoined *leaves* as well! This is just gettin' too freaky!

And... now I've got *another* mutation starting, already! Another double trap is forming, on one of my A2's this time. I'm *really* starting to wonder what's going on now. They're only getting rainwater and insects, I swear!

Time for another update... First of all, the triple traps on the two merged leaves on my Dutch Delight are still open, haven't caught anything yet, and are finally taking on a nice blush of coloration. (And my little Red Piranhas are growing right up around and in between them, as if they don't even care!)

But wait, there's more...! What I thought was going to be just a "regular" double-trap on my A2 has actually turned out to be the freakiest thing I've ever seen yet!

Has anyone else ever had this happen? I am seriously getting worried now. Honestly, I don't live anywhere near Chernobyl or Three Mile Island! What could possibly be causing all these weird mutations to happen so suddenly and close together???
