Unfortunately, the fall.colors don't last very long. Everyone is nestled together with the smaller pots are in the center of the cluster to be shielded by the larger pots.

I'm chicken, and I do cover them when it is well below freezing for an extended period of time. I have been told by other growers in the area that this is not necessary. Christmas last year kind of proved it when the tarp over the Squirrel Defense 5000 shredded in the wind but I still don't risk it. I really thought I would lose plants coming out of that nasty Christmas freeze, but I think my only true casualty was a Coquillage that wouldn't come out of dormancy. I did manage to get a pulling of that one to strike, but that was the only damage. I've lost more plants this summer to rot than anything else.

I remember the deep freeze happening to you. You thought most things were goners…but they weren’t. :) I’m still too chicken to leave things outside. If the Lord gives me another year I figure I’ll have more plants by then and it’ll be a real pain to move them. I guess I’ll find out how they overwinter outside down here!👍🏼
