Don't worry TrapperKeeper, you're not alone. :D

Guess what? A venus fly trap is sprouting!!! I sowed the seeds on July 19, so I guess it isn't very quick germination but that's ok. None of my venus fly traps from the red seed mix is germinating yet, but thats ok. Red venus fly traps still have green cotydelons, right?

Once the baby venus fly trap gets big enough, I'll post pictures.

Yeah Taryn !!!

Glad to have support and know I'm not alone :D

Congrats on the new baby !!! Bet it's the first of many.
Cann't wait for photos and to follow the developements of the the baby VFTs.
How fun. You just don't know what they'll grow in to. Regardless we know they'll be AWESOME !
Hopefully I'll be able to add to this thread in a while as I ordered both the red mix and the regular mix for variety.

Good luck with the babies !!!

Very nice seed grown. Has red sawtooth-like teeth, deep red traps, skinny upright leaves and a red line right under the teeth on the outside of the trap. Another one i'll be keeping an eye on over the next few years.

I'm just curious, those of you in similar weather conditions (I'm in Michigan), are any of you heating your seeds with an air heater or are you just leaving them out and bringing them in at night if it gets a bit chilly?

During the day our temps have been into the 80's (but the nights are low 60s) and I have a deck that is very sunny with a covered gazebo seating area, I'd probably keep these there since the grow guides say to keep them out of direct sunlight.. I do have grow lights but I would likely have to purchase some sort of air heater if I am to keep them between 78-90 degrees at all times..

I just picked up some giant & special seeds from ebay... should be here tuesday, that gives me just enough time to purchase a heater if you think I'll need one?

You traps are looking very healthy.

I just got back from my family reunion in West Virginia and had a friend watching my plants. Apparently he didn't listen to instructions very well. I had a container with 30 baby flytraps from the seeds I collect earlier this summer. They had really nice coloration and were growing great. When I got back the container was half full of water about an inch over my babies which killed them all :'( I'm not quit sure what he was thinking but I'll try again next time they flower.

After reading through this post I am so tempted to order some seeds from the store.

I have some seeds from another site planted at the minute but I haven't seen any shoots yet, though they've only been planted 10 days.

I added one more new one to my original post on page 4. I almost submitted it for the photo contest but went with a different photo instead.

all my seeds from 2 new orders of VFT Fused Tooth and Red Mix are popping like crazy. Me and my 3 yo daughter spent about 20 min trying to count them with magnifying glass. I was excited but she was OVER excited - waiving a mag/ glass in the air and screaming - here is another one!!!! here is another one!!!! So adorable. Now we have a youngest fan of VFTs - three year old girl, LOL
