For those of you that use styrofoam cups as pots for your VFTs, just wondering what size you use, how much you pay (and for what quantity), and where you get them from?

I found a site that sells 20 packs of 24oz styrofoam cups for $2.39 each (and $11.42 for shipping). If I purchase 10 packs of 20, the shipping actually goes down to $11 {weird}.

You could always buy a lot of Mcdonalds Sweet teas for $1 each! They are pretty big cups!

.. but I'm guessing you'd want a larger quantity.

I use the red plastic cups you put drinks in, but am looking into using styrofoam. I was going to get them from the doller store, i saw them their.

I have seen some eBay sellers grow and send their plants in red solo cups also.

I get my cups at The Mighty Dollar. Its one of those stores where everything is a dollar. Pay a dollar for a 16 pack. Going to start growing everything in them since its so cheap.

I think theyre 16 oz cups and you cant order from them online unfortunately.

Hey starchy, Red solo cups are exactly 16 ounces as well. I would assume that is optimal size. The only thing I would change about the red solo cups is to actually find a white solo cup to minimize the chance of overheating the roots.

I just go to my local supermarket and buy whatever the largest size white styrofoam cup they have it. I think it's a 12 pack of 24oz cups for around $1.50, maybe $2.

How tall in inch are they ?

These 2 sizes are the most easily available here in Singapore. Sold in 10s per pack for probably less than usd$5 / pax of 10s.

There are ar less than 4.5 inch in height ?

Not sure, I've never measured them. I don't have one in front of me but I want to say around 7-8 inches. I'll measure one when I get home and report back.

I was off by a bit. The cups are 6.25 inches tall. I find them to be perfect for use in a standard nursery tray which is about two inches deep.
