This plant is supposed to make “PomPom” shaped traps but as all “pompom” VFT are it is unstable. Jeremiah said it might make them this year though

I got a St. Patrick's Beard many years ago in a trade with David Conner. It never did all that well for me and was mostly typical looking. Then it lost all its leaves when it went into dormancy and Leah thought it was dead and threw it out

I just got another few pieces this year from Jeremiah so I'm interested to see how they do. But yes, St. Patrick's Beard and Cheerleader aren't stable. Nor are any of the "pompom" flytraps that I've grown or heard from others to have grown.

The same is true of Biohazard and some of the more odd-looking flytraps with multiple flanges, including Mirror. It is really neat when they do produce their odd traps, but it seems that it is hard to predict when they will do so! For that reason, we've largely stopped propagating them in favor of the usual looking flytraps that are definitely stable like Freaky Star, Wacky Traps, the BCP dictator series, Triton, Crocodile, Werewolf and a few others.

I had problems with this plant, it’s health declined very rapidly due to mites and I think I messaged you about it through email. I used the avid miticide from your store and it worked really well

Excellent that the Avid worked well for you! Of the 3 miticides we sell, that's my preferred one too. I just got another type this fall that is supposed to be the most effective miticide in the world. It's called Forbid 4F:

It costs twice as much as Avid, Floramite, and TetraSan though! We plan to offer it as well, but at 2x the price point as the other miticides that are quite effective, I'm not sure it would be warranted unless someone has multiple pests or mites that are resistant to other miticides.

That's awesome! I have never seen a red pom pom before despite growing 'Cheerleader' and 'St. Patrick's Beard' for a few years!!

Wish me luck, hopefully I didn’t go too out of hand with the pullings.. just really want more cause these are slow growers. I will be Maxsea feeding this specific cultivar only because of how slow it is and it cannot eat.
