I want to start a sphagnum moss culture. Since stuff your buy at the store is harvested from wild sources (usually unsustainably) it really won't be any cleaner than what I have growing in my own backyard. There are at least 150 species of Sphagnum - I'm pretty sure harvesters don't bother to identify or label which one(s) you are getting in their packages, so I'm pretty sure they are all interchangeable. Is there any reason I couldn't (or shouldn't) culture the Sphagnum from my yard for use with my CP's? I do not treat with pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, or anything at all. Just wanting some opinions....
