Hey guys,

This is my first official spring with flytraps. They all look good for the most part. There are a few with blackening new growth though. Is it normal for flytraps in the spring to abort a new leaf every so often? Rest of the plant looks fine. Also have a few throwing up twisted growth. I've read this could be pest damage, but the plant looks fine. I spray my plants with avid every spring and fall since thats when it seems mites like to show their face.

like you say the plant looks pretty healthy. Have you tried measuring the water runoff with a TDS meter to see what the count is? I find that once and a while it's handy to heavily water from the top to flush any mineral build-up. I'm just having a wild guess. Normally when I have issues, I run through a few general tests, like check for pests, check for mineral build-up from evaporation. Last year the heat was killed some of my plants as the sun was heating the black pots up something rotten.... took me a little to work that one out.
