Silica sand is safe but it is always a good idea to test and rinse it. Perlite is only better because it is lighter. If you do use sand then it needs to be coarse, not fine.

That should work but that is a high price for a little sand.

The price is way too High. I can buy 60 lbs. of that same sand at home depot for slightly less than $5

Both are in color.
Schultz is Hogan's Heros, which I find to be quite a humorous sitcom.
Wolfgang is from Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In which is a 70s variety show. It has its moments but it is very interesting to watch it for the cultural influence of the 70s.
