I have has a cephalotus for over a year now and I’ve decided to try moving it outdoors this summer. In its time next to a southern facing window its stayed green and all its pitchers even new adult ones have been empty with no digestive fluids. It has multiple adult pitchers and is in full fun under a clear plastic cover. Is this a good idea or am i going to kill my plant. Any advice would be appreciatedImage.

Personally I would just buy a good LED growlight for it and keep it inside where its cool. When it gets really hot Cephalotus can suffer.

I put one of mine outside last year as an experiment and it grew Okay but never really took off like I had hoped. If you do try it outside, I would lose the plastic cover and take several leaf pullings, just to be on the safe side.

Im in zone 5 so it never really get above 85 degrees. Just in case it is now in a slightly shaded area. Thanks for the advice

Im hesitate to take the plastic cover since the last time i let the crown get wet which was just an misting on the soil around the plant a brownish fungus grew on the crown and it stoped growing altogether for about 3 months. Its not like a dome just a piece of plastic to block the rain. I will probably take some leaf pullings just in case. Thanks for the advice

That’s probably the safest option but you never gain anything if you never take a risk. So far its doing fine outdoors but I’m keep a close eye on it.
