I can't decide whether to get a shogun star or a bristletoot. I like the colors on bristletooth, but it seems kinda small, and I like the shogun stars size, so I can't decide.... Which is a faster grower/most vigorous? And can shogun star get red coloration? Which has bigger traps? Sorry for all the questions, but thanks in advance!

Bristletooth isn't necessarily small but it does grow prostrate year round. At least the one I have does. I don't believe it's a registered cultivar so I'm sure there are several distinct varieties floating around called "bristletooth".

They're both average growers but since Shogun Star grows upright after dormancy you're going to notice it's growth more.

Shogun Star can get red interiors but if you're looking for a trap that's nearly identical and gets good color I like "UK Sawtooth II". It has the same tooth structure but they're just a little larger.

Shogun Star easily has bigger traps than bristletooth.

If it were me I would choose the bristletooth between the two just because it gets great color and has a nice compact growth habit along with pretty cool teeth.

Don't you just want them all!? I have alot of different cultivars from FTS and I really love them all, even the seed growns
