For my birthday back at the beginning of July, one of my friends bought me a pitcher plant (S. Areolata). When I got it, it had one small pitcher that was blocked and another smaller pitcher that was still growing. I repotted it into a small plastic container with the same mix of peat and coarse grain sand that I used on my other carnivorous plants. It grew two new traps, but both have turned brownish-yellow and do not look right. Is there something I’ve done wrong?? I really want it to live! I attached some pics, they aren’t the best quality but if anyone has any suggestions please help! I have no clue what to do

Are the new pitchers wilting, shriveling or losing turgidity? Perhaps you could describe your growing conditions and cultivation protocols.

I can't tell from your picture, but if the newer, unopened pitchers are still growing and appear healthy (aside from the color), that doesn't sound abnormal. Emerging pitchers can start red or coppery until they grow into their mature coloration. If, however, growth has completely halted, it could be a number of issues including substrate, water, rot, etc.

I live in Eastern North Carolina, and I usually just leave the plant outside in a tray of distilled or RO water. I don’t normally have to water it directly, as the tray keeps the media wet. It looks like it is still growing, and the newest pitcher is yellow -almost red at the top and is a little squishy. However the hoods on the other pitchers are turning brown and shriveling up. I attached a pic of the sand, which I rinse before I use.

I'd probably just keep an eye on it and make sure it continues to grow. I also wouldn't worry too much about other pitchers gradually browning and dying off. It happens naturally. If they all died en masse, suddenly and abruptly, then I would worry. An easy general indicator of plant health is the presence of new and consistent growth.
