Hey everyone,

So I recently received two S. oreophila 'sand mountain' as a gift a couple months ago and both of them are putting up flower stalks. They're divisions so I'm not sure if I should cut them off or not. The reason I ask is because they're pretty large divisions, so I don't know if it would take too much out of the plant. Also, I think they are divisions from the same plant, so would it be considered self-pollination/be bad if I took pollen from one division and used it to pollinate the other?

Yes, that would be self pollination. Not necessarily "bad", but by the 2-3rd generation of selfing, you'll get weaker plants.

Will the 1st generation of selfed plants be weaker too? Could I get variegation? (Can sarrs even be variegated?)

Your seeds may be slightly smaller, possibly less viable.

Ooo, that is very cool. I wonder what it looks like now. Do you think I should keep the flowers or chop 'em.
