I just found this sticking out of one of my s. alata seeds. I sowed these seeds 7 days ago. Now for the long wait until adulthood.

That was my plan too. I'm going to statify the ones you sent me soon. I'm going on a trip in November so I wanted them ready after I return, rather than stressing about them while I'm gone. I could stratify for longer, but I figure that will just increase the risk of fungus and mold. Did you treat them with a fungicide?

Nope. No fungicide. I just rinse the LFSM really well and put them in an airtight glass jar. The jar was sterilized with boiling water.

After stratification I spread the seed bearing LFSM in a open Tupperware bowl and placed it in my terrarium. Temperatures run 75-80F.

I noticed these guys reaching out for water and snapped a few pics so I thought I'd share.

I have some S. Cupurea and S. Minor seeds. Was thinking of stratifying them in the garage once temps start getting into the 40's in there. Think that would work? Lol...

I think it'll work just fine. That's how they get stratified in nature. I threw a few of these seeds in my bog outside to stratify naturally over the winter. Hopefully I'll see babies in the spring.

Just wanted to post an update. My S. Alata seedlings are putting out their first true leaves.

Are you planning to fertilize or feed? I finally got the s. Alata you sent me in stratification. About 10 days later than planned.

I may feed them once they get a bit bigger. I haven't really decided on fertilizer yet. I may end up using maxsea or similar if I don't get them to grow fast enough.

I'll be in the same boat. Hear great stuff about maxsea though. The little dental syringes work well from what I've seen.
