Any one else have sarr flowers with color breaks like this?

S. 'Pretty 'n Pink' If I recall, my 'Godzuki', which succumbed to post-division-itis, did this as well. Curious what other plants have this flower attribute.

It is either from a Tattnall or a rosea. I'm not sure which because I didn't label the photo when I took it.

I I remember correctly, the color breaks in tulips back in the day were caused by a disease... Maybe this is the case for these too?

Pretty - it's almost a color gradient!

That's right! I've read that too - tulip breaking virus I think. I don't think this would be a very contagious virus as I really don't see this in my other plants. Although I'm keeping an eye peeled this bloom season!

I've seen hybrids do this. If one parent has a red flower and the other parent has a yellow flower, then their offspring usually have both colors in their flowers, either separate or blended together. Check out my S. moorei flowers from this spring:

A virus is indeed possible. There are a number of plant viruses out there. Most have certain preferred hosts, and, unfortunately -- if it is a virus -- there is no cure.

Interesting info that you've seen both parents' colors in the flower. 'Specially interested in any instances of separate 'streaks' of color. I can't quite make that out in your moorei pics. Gorge plants though!!!

Interesting and intimidating - I haven't heard of sarracenia flower color break virus, BUT, I am not well-schooled in possible sarr viruses. This particular plant is in a common bog with several other sarrs. I'll keep an eye out for this characteristic developing in any of the other plants' blooms.

I also found this picture of S. Pretty 'n Pink (which is what my plant is) - I can just make out a green streak on the red petal in this picture from a UK plant!

More looking to do for sure!

Fairly typical in hybrids, as has been said, it expresses the parentage of the plant which is why flowers are useful in identification, as well as very pleasing on the eye!!
