I have a darlingtonia growing in LFSM with some live ones at the top. I noticed a bit of a smell when I got it and when I was checking the pot further down the smell was stronger. I’m assuming the plant has never gotten a repot for yrs. Will darlingtonia be fine in old moss at the bottom but live ones at the top, or do I have to repot it entirely? Ik that darlingtonia in the wild grow in dead plant matter, but just wondering if old LFSM would affect it long term.

Old LFSM is in fact peat, that is how it is made, so no it shouldn't affect your plant unless you have some other problem. The smell is probably from the plant being standing in water with no drain and little variation in water level, possibly from anaerobic conditions in the pot. If you have a better set up it will pass as oxygen gets back into the medium.
