Has anyone planted a raised garden with carnivorous plants? Is it effective?

Hi TruncataGuy

Sorry for the late reply, but I just discovered this thread.I grow all my plants (mostly Sarracenia) outdoors all year round in the UK, to do this I have created a 'lazy mans' series of bogs. To save digging and having to remove spoil, I have dug into the ground about ten inches then created a raised bed above the ground with railway sleepers and the like. Line it with pool liner, cover the bottom with old plastic flower pots or similar to save on the amount of peat needed and create a water resevoir and hey presto a 16-24 inch deep bog without all the digging.
So effectively they are raised beds, it works very well, brings the plants closer to eye level, retains a lot of water so watering chores are vastly reduced, and makes weeding easier. Well worth doing come the spring, believe me you wont regret it, in fact you may end up making many more, they really are that easy to make and maintain, the plants look after themselves.

Cheers
Steve
