Quick update i wanted to show all members about this awesome red VFT(and other VFT's as well), the leaf just looks like a tree leaf, but just with a trap :), it is huge, and the traps sounds like will be big as well, the color is green as of now, but i think is because is not getting enough sunlight yet, but they look amazing, i have them getting all night light(flouresent light+ sunlight, when not sunny, all day getting flouresent light), they seem to like it! ;)

Wow, yeah, they do look great jht-union! Good growing!

It's pretty normal for red-leafed flytraps to have green leaves when the leaves first come out until the leaves get a bit more light. Then they'll color up nicely.

Thank you daniel, dionea, and matt!!!
I hope they color up even more nicely, lately they have been stuck in the growing lights because outside is 50-30F, but once the lower temps are in the 55F, and temps of 70F or more, i will just put them gradually outside so the receive all the sunlight they can get! :)

Looks great, jht-union! Big, thick leaves often occur right when plants are emerging from dormancy, if they have plenty of stored food in the rhizome.

About the color-- The red color (organic anthocyanin dye) develops more slowly than the green color of the chlorophyll. So when a leaf is growing fast, it will look green at first; it takes a little longer for the red color to develop, but when it does, it will become more intense than the green and the leaf will look red. Strong light will help the red develop.

Anyway, great photos. Thanks for posting them! :)
