Steve decided to make a poll, so far,

FTS Scarlet vixen: 6

FTS tempress: 1

FTS Crimson Crusher: 4

NONE OF THOSE! I'll make my suggestion below!: 0

Yes, sounds like FTS Scarlet Vixen is taking the first position!, but this doesn't mean this will be the name thought.

Yeah, right now FTS Scarlet Vixen is in the lead. I thought of FTS Lush Life, but I don't think I like it as much.

A few days ago I was thinking about the problem of naming Venus Flytraps, and the fact that in not too much time, virtually all the names for "red" and related to jaws or snapping shut or traps, etc., will be used in almost any combination. So I was thinking about naming Flytraps according to a theme instead, as universities often used to name their computers, after some aspect of the natural world or universe, for example, after the names of stars, seas, etc. I might like (if Matt is willing) to name a series of Venus Flytraps after some of the world's great volcanoes:
  • FTS Aconcagua (huge South American volcano)
  • FTS Cotopaxi (another beautiful South American volcano)
  • FTS Etna (famous volcano in Sicily)
  • FTS Krakatoa (volcano famous for an incredible eruption/explosion)
And perhaps some after mountains: FTS Everest, Mont Blanc, Denali (highest mountain in North America, in Alaska) :D

But for now, this particular Venus Flytrap clone may end up with the name FTS Scarlet Vixen.

This Flytrap Store seedling, after thinking about it for more than a year, has been formally named FTS Vesuvius. Many thanks to Daniel_G for the suggestion! :D
