Drosera spatulata 'Ruby Slippers' and Half-Price Dionaea muscipula Seed
Drosera spatulata 'Ruby Slippers'
The FlytrapStore.com Tissue Culture Program (also known to FlytrapCare Forum members as Matt Miller) is pleased to announce the availability of Drosera spatulata 'Ruby Slippers', with a limited initial quantity now available at FlytrapStore.com--
http://www.carnivorousplants.org/cpn/Sp ... l#slippers
It is important to note that the D. spatulata 'Ruby Slippers' offered at FlytrapStore.com are not clones, but rather plants grown in tissue culture from seeds of D. spatulata 'Ruby Slippers' obtained from William Joseph Clemens (the registrant of the cultivar) which are growing true to their parent's form and to the cultivar description. Unlike Dionaea (Venus Flytraps) for which genetically identical clones should be produced in order to retain the specific traits of a named plant, some Drosera generally grow true to form and in conformance with their named cultivar characteristics from seed, and such is the case with these progeny of 'Ruby Slippers'. That is the reason for the following statement in the 'Ruby Slippers' description at the ICPS website above--
Plant lovers and gardeners of all types often love to start early in anticipation of a new growing season by buying seeds and starting plants in Winter and early Spring. From now until the end of the month of January, 2011, if one buys more than 1 packet of Dionaea muscipula (Venus Flytrap) seed at FlytrapStore.com, the digital-coupon code of ftsdm1023 entered at checkout time will make the price half-off, 50% of the normal price. That means that two packets won't cost any more than one packet, so if you had planned to buy one packet, you might as well buy two and get the second packet free.
So for those in the northern hemisphere, you might want to get an early start on the growing season and buy your seeds now so that they will have a long first season to grow into healthy, hardy little Flytraps before next winter. The offer is also available to those in the southern hemisphere or anyone in the world who wishes to order seed at this time, at the links below.
