Hey Matt do you guys ship bulbs? I see when you have a VFT not in stock does that mean the plant is not in stock. Or do have bulbs waiting to come out of dormancy? I prefer bulbs since they ship better and nothing is more fun than seeing a bulb sprout. My first VFT was ordered out of a comic book a million years ago and all i got was bulbs , they grew fast and I got them back in the day when i lived in NJ, here in Fla getting some bulbs around march would be awesome.

It wouldn't probably too hard. You can probably ask for them to cut the leaves so you can get just bulb...

We ship plants in to ways:
1) bare root plants, which is what you're referring to as a "bulb"
2) potted plants

We have lots of flytraps that will be listed for sale in the store in the spring time, probably around March or April. It's not that we're so much waiting for them to come out of dormancy, though that is part of the reason we're not listing plants for sale right now (customers that don't know or understand dormancy are usually disappointed with dormant plants). We're more waiting for the plants to grow a bit more to get to sale size.

Wait, so when you ship bare root plants they don't have any leaves on them?

Hey Daniel,

usually bare-rooted means that the plants is shipped out, usually kept in a ziploc bag. Its roots normally are just wrapped with a small amount of long fiber sphagnum that is moist to keep it alive, otherwise the plant would go into shock by having no moisture.

No, I never said that. All plants are shipped with whatever leaves they have on them.

Oh okay. The way I read that I took it as a 'bulb' :)

Right, a bulb usually insinuates that there aren't any leaves it. But some bulbs do have leaves:

And actually, flytraps don't really have "bulbs" but rather rhizomes:

Though people often erroneously refer to them as bulbs.
