I planted VFT seeds a couple of months ago, and they sprouted about two months ago. They look pretty healthy, but their traps haven't opened yet. Is this normal? The conditions that I've given them are a little less than optimal; they have the right amount and type of water and soil, lots of humidity, but they only get direct sun for about 3 hours each day. Will they be able to survive with such little light?

Thanks!

You should be getting them lots more light. If you can, get a CFL or other artificial light. It is however pretty common for new leaves to be shut.

I usually don't give baby flytraps direct sunlight, only filtered sunlight or artificial light. Baby flytraps can easily burn if placed in direct sunlight, especially during the summer months. Filtered sun through a window, greenhouse panel, or a shade cloth is better for the babies until they get a bit larger.
