I bought the big mystery box, a crimson sawtooth vft, and a judith finn napenthese. I can't wait till they get here. Got a nice, nearly empty box for them.

Alrighty, here is my official unbiased review of the plants I received. This is strictly from opening the box while they are still in the bags. I have never ordered plants and received them in the mail so I don't know what is normally expected. I did mistakenly order them before memorial day weekend so they arrived a day later than I thought because of the holiday. So without further rambling...

Judith Finn Napenthes: 5 pitchers. 3 are brown on the top to about halfway down. 1 has a great red rim and the final is all green. Plant looks healthy.

Moctezumae Pinguicula: Plant is in dry dormant stage. The plant has flowers and looks very healthy.

Medusa Pinguicula: Also in dry dormancy. Plant is still small but very green and healthy.

Sarracenia Rubra: 7 pitchers. 1 is brown on top and another is starting to brown. Still looks very healthy.

Sarracenia Scarlet Belle: Wow! 12... Yes 12 pitchers! 3 are brown on the top. Again, the plant looks very healthy with new sprouts popping up.

Crimson Tooth VFT: Still a baby with about 13 traps. Each are about 1/4 the size of a dime. There are new ones sprouting up too.

Drosera Tokaiensis: Smaller plant, it is all green. Very nice looking. (I've never had a drosera)

Drosers Adalae: Very nice long leaves with no brown.

My opinion... All plants are very nice looking. There is a little brown, I'd say only about 5% of all the total plant mass is brown. I am very happy with what I received. All the plants were still moist and not dried out. Pricing was amazing. For all 8 of these plants I paid roughly $50 with shipping and all. Pictures will be coming tomorrow hopefully.

Glad to hear that you got the plants and they were in good health Crispy!

I couldn't help but notice how often you note any brown parts on the Nepenthes and Sarracenia pitchers. I would like to clarify that all the brown you're noting is normal browning that happens with old pitchers and doesn't indicate anything with regards to the health of the plants. The Sarracenia pitchers that are brown are from last season and the Nepenthes pitchers that are brown are a few months old now.

I don't snip any pitchers off until they turn completely brown. I know that some people choose to snip as soon at the pitcher starts browning, but I believe that the plant still gains nourishment from even a half brown pitcher, so that's why I don't snip them.

Thanks again for your order and I hope that the plants do well for you this year :)

That's cool. Like I said though, I've never ordered plants and received them in the mail so I just noted everything I saw. That way it was completely an unbiased review. Didn't mean anything negative.

Oh, I didn't mean to sound like I took it in a negative way. I was just explaining the reason that some of the pitcher plants had partially brown pitchers.

It looks like the plants made it to you in good shape! Thanks for uploading the photos. Most of them are a bit blurry and I noticed that they're not resized and that they're quite large (about 1MB a piece). It's taking a very long time for them to load even on my high speed connection. Before you upload next time (or if you want to take the time to edit these uploads) have a read of this:

Server space is a consideration, but I don't want it to prevent people from uploading photos. I'm just asking that people resize them if possible.
