Highly recommend seeing these in situ! I caught some in OR and CA on a roadtrip a few years back - worth the trip!
I also wanted to pass along this resource if you haven't seen it yet - just a really nice AIPC article by a sarracenia maestro!

I will get to one of the sites one day, soon hopefully. I have not yet seen that particular document. Thank you, it looks to be a good read and the more I know about them the better chance of not killing them in the future.

A thread full of amateur photographers lol. Me too! I actually had been looking at potentially converting a room in the basement to a darkroom, but I realized that I’m going to need it when I move out of my mom’s again for winter dormancy. Anyhoo I love macro shots. Somehow I didn’t even think about using them for seedlings or the inside walls of plants with pitchers.

It has been a while since I have pulled out my Nikon. It seems my phone is easier to get to and takes fairly decent pics. Hoping to break it out again soon and take some more macro shots. Here's a link to some of my work, although it has been a bit since I updated. Clicking on each pic brings up more of that subject. https://nwupgradesplus.com/

Very good and informative read. I just purchased digital version of "Darlingtonia" by Natch Greyes. So far it is a pretty good read and between the two I have come up with some ideas to try.

After a couple of brief discussions with and some great tips from Mike Wang, I have come up with a plan. Since I have enough seedlings I am going to try a few things. ( I know, another experiment, right?) :D
I will be trying some in a rock/live lfsm mix that will have water running through it at all times. Some will stay in the muckiness that is currently decomposing that they are in and will have water running through constantly. Some will be in 100% peat and will be watered with ice daily. The Del Norte CO (all red) will remain in live lfsm and watered with ice daily. I want to see what and where the differences are. All plants will receive filtered light that I will be adjusting accordingly.

Updated pics. There's a new pitcher in the bunch!

So I have been looking at maybe investing in an aquarium chiller to use with my aquabowl in order to achieve cooler roots with my CL's. I have read about people using them for Neps but nothing else. After reading various articles from Mike Wang and others I am seeing that some in the wild grow right next to streams. My original plan had been to build a pond for this. However that plan was nixed when I messed up my back. I would love to keep them outside all year but that will not be doable unless I run power to my greenhouse. I have an extra grow tent and if I can find room I am thinking of utilizing it just for CL's.
I am curious to see if anyone has used a chiller for anything other than Neps? Also, I know for dormancy watering should be minimal but for the ones in the wild I would assume dormancy is triggered by time of year and watering would be a non issue, at least in theory.
I am currently watering with ice water when I am able. They all seem to really like this and I think a constant flow of chilled water would be beneficial. I even had a couple seedlings I thought were dead that seem to have come back.
Comments, tips, etc. always welcomed.

The Huntington in Pasadena (San Marino, actually) had a setup with a chiller for Darlingtonia when the LACPS toured it a couple years ago. As I recall it was a tabletop bog and the chiller was in a tank below. They seemed to grow pretty well but it looked like a lot of work. There are a few photos that show the top of the setup (but not underneath) on the LACPS website. Good luck.

I can see why Pasadena would require a chiller, but doesn't WA have cool soil temps all year round? :?:

A thing that I built a few years back:
18 gallon storage tote sunk into the ground, with a solar fountain pump to have a constant stream of cool water for chickens to drink during the summer. (I had to get rid of it because sparrows used it as a birdbath and kept crapping in the water)
