We are going to have lows in the 40s for a few nights this week, but then the temps will be going back up for a couple weeks, hopefully. Should I bring in my neps and other more sensitive plants for the season now, or just bring them in at night for a few days, or what?

Just bring them in for a few days.

Yes, good one madrone!
I sadly and mistakenly killed a beautiful and getting big N. Rafflesiana a couple years ago because I didn't bring it in during a cold snap. Oh, and I had decided to repot it right before also! (DUMMY!)

Words of wisdom! Sorry to hear about your nep loss. I've definitely over-trusted a forecast and mostly lucked out. The truth is I don't want the summer to be over ... but I think it might be.
