Has anyone read "the carnivorous plants" by Adrian Slack? If I can get a copy for $10.00 plus postage, is that a good price??

I've read parts of it, it has a lot of pictures, and the price, I think its good. I like that it has a lot of pictures and short, informative text. I don't like like to read books that has a lot of information, but is so very long. Makes me sleepy.

I have the "Insect Eating Plants" book by Adrian Slack and it's a good book, but I don't have "the carnivorous plants". "Insect Eating Plants" is pretty good, but my favorites are Barry Rice's "Growing Carnivorous Plants" and Peter D'Amato's "The Savage Garden". I also have the "Carnivorous Plants" by Donald E. Schnell, which is a good book.

Linton,

I've read "the carnivorous plants" by Adrian Slack and it is a very good book. Adrian Slack is Britain’s leading expert on Carnivorous plants and he started collecting way back in the 1970s.
As far as cost, I would not know because I checked the book out from the library.

I think of it this way, a small chapter book would me over 5 bucks. Non-fiction books should be more expensive. But why is it that you don't get it out of the library?

I found one on E-bay for 10 bucks, I figured that if I bought it, I wouldn't have to borrow one from the local library (which doesn't have a copy anyway) every two weeks and then return it all the time.

Hi Linton,
I own carnivorous plants by Adrian slack and it is more focussed on the taxonomy and descriptions of the plants more that the cultivation side of things. This is stilll a good book and if worth reaing.
P.S- The liabrary of the ACPS has a copy of this plus many other carnivorous plant books avaliable for members to borrow.
Pat.
