February, 2010-- Hello all from Matt Miller and Steve Doonan at the Flytrap Store. Here is some information (subject to change) about the Venus Flytrap clones and other plants likely to be available or possibly available this year at the Flytrap Store, and pricing information.

We've been getting quite a few emails and messages about when to expect certain clones to be up for sale. I (Matt) wanted to make a quick post with a list of clones that we'll almost certainly have for sale this year and and approximate date to expect them for sale in the FlytrapStore. Please remember that all of these dates are only estimates. List of named Dionaea clones that will be available beginning in 2010 in alphabetical order--


Venus Flytrap clones and other plants available in 2010 at the Flytrap Store

• B52 (registered cultivar) - small, medium and large specimens
  will likely be available in summer 2010
• Czech Giant - small and medium specimens will likely be
  avaiable in summer 2010
• Fang - small specimens in limited quantity will likely be
  available in summer 2010
• Jaws (registered cultivar) - small, medium and large specimens
  will be available in summer 2010
• Pink Venus - small, medium and large specimens will likely be
  available in summer 2010
• Red Piranha (registered cultivar) - small, medium and large
  specimens will be available in summer 2010
• Sawtooth (rgistered cultivar) - small, medium and large
  specimens will likely be available in late summer 2010
• Vigorous - small, medium and large specimens will likely be
  available in late summer

List of other FlytrapStore (FTS) clones that will be available in 2010:

• FTS Crimson Sawtooth (aka FTS Red II, FTS Red Sawtooth) Photos here - A red plant with sawtooth-like cilia. It was grown from seed in vitro. So far seems
  very similar to Bohemian Garnet in appearance and growth characteristics. Available in February 2010.
• FTS Sawtooth - Reminisent of microdent in that it has very small cilia, but the cilia are also "dente-like" or "sawtooth-like". There are only a couple of these plants in vivo and I can't say for sure what it will look like yet. Likely available in summer 2010.
• FTS Dente Photos here - A slender, upright growing plant similar in appearance to Dionaea "Spider" but with Dente/Sawtooth like cilia.
  Available in summer 2010.

Other plants that will be available in 2010 include:

• Darlingtonia
• Heliamphora minor

I have a lot of plants, especially hard to find Dionaea clones, that I'm hoping to get started in tissue culture this year, so 2011 should

Note: the Y, M, and P indicate "Young," "Mature" and "Premium" sizes. "Young" is a well established plant; if it were human, it would be in grade school through junior high. "Mature" is a nearly mature or fully mature plant with a good root system and well developed "bulb." "Premium" is the best we have: a multi-year old plant in peak physical condition with an extremely well-developed bulb and root system, offered less frequently and in limited quantity. The premium level plants cost a lot more and are recommended for experienced growers only; new enthusiasts might wish to learn how to grow Venus Flytraps with less expensive plants first.

Regular clones are those already in wide distribution. Premium clones are those that are not yet as common or are relatively hard to find, and include those clones developed at and initially exclusive to the Flytrap Store, FlytrapStore.com
