Hi! So, I struggle with fungus almost year round (west central Florida). Rust (I think) has been extra annoying this year, usually comes and goes and I can get it under control, but I made the mistake of letting my Pings get rained on too many times and ended up with a lot of algae, fungus, maybe some rot. Not good. Bayer 3 in 1 mostly took care of it for a time. Anyway, I had one Pirouette that I was sure was a goner, and I didn’t want to use Bayer again (I had already been treating for something else and needed to take it out of rotation for a while). Out of desperation I shrugged my shoulders and hit the whole thing, including media with some random fungicide I bought for like 5 bucks at Lowes for my non carnivorous garden. Not only did it not kill my Pirouette, but with two applications a few days apart it took care of all of the fungus, and algae, and maybe it’s unrelated but the rot stopped as well. That was weeks ago and now it’s thriving. Things started to look fungus-y again so I used it on all of my Mexican Pinguicula the other day, and they are 100% not dead. Do with this information what you will. I’ve ONLY used it on Pings so far so I can’t speak to how it would work on anything else, but I really wanted to share that intel. The stuff is called Dr. Earth Final Stop Disease Control Fungicide. It’s organic, just a bunch of herbal oils. It also doesn’t smell terrible which is a nice bonus. Obviously I’ve only just started experimenting with this on my own plants, so please test a tiny bit of your plant or a less valuable one in case my situation is a fluke or whatever. I’d hate to be wrong. It’s working great for me though. Here’s a photo.
I’m doing a little media experiment with these guys as well.
