Just because I'm interested, what precautions are my fellow Florida growers taking with their plants?

For the ones on the screened-in back porch, I took them down from the benches they were on and put them either close to the house wall or close to the partial wall below the screen portion. I'm not too near the coast, but if it looks like the wind will blow them around I may have to hurry out and bring them inside. Hopefully the roof of the porch will stay on... (It made it through the last one a few years ago.) The rest of the plants are inside already. Oh, yeah, I did bring in a pot full of seedling flytraps earlier today.

I’m bringing all the plants inside. If the driving rain doesn’t get them, the wind could blow things over. Most likely will be in my garage. Just not sure when yet. A day or two with not a lot of supplemental lighting isn’t going to be as bad as if they blew over and got their roots disrupted.

I’m super late to this thread but I was just browsing around the forum, and I took some pictures while rounding everyone up before the storm. I thought they were cool. Also made this bog (not great timing, but that old media was real gross. However, pretty glad I didn’t do that BEFORE the storm). I hope y’all made it through okay. Minimal damage here. Not one plant was harmed, but hopefully a LOT of thrips were. Hope your homes and plants are safe.

Aside from my succulents and cacti, I ended up leaving all my plants outside, and none were severely damaged, just a few bent pitchers on some sarracenia and impaled nepenthes pitchers.

That’s so good to hear! I’m constantly impressed with how tough these things are. I accidentally left a Nepenthes cutting I was treating for thrips sitting out in the middle of my front yard for the entirety of the storm. I lost some siding off my house and my hedges just about blew in half but that little cutting didn’t even fall over. It’s doing great. I had all my pings on the porch under a table and they all went totally dormant over the course of two days in the dark. I’m in Tampa. It was a rough week. Oh, here’s another nerdy thing. This is a screen shot of the temp/RH reading from my cold frame shade house that week. So interesting to see the temp just plummet and the humidity rise up so sharply like that.
Clearly I don’t have enough people to talk plants with. So pumped about this forum.
