Hey everyone,

How well does robcantleyi grow in intermediate conditions?

I found a good deal but I want to make sure I can grow it. Maybe if I can't, I'll get a babysitter for it and when I can grow it, take it back and reward them with a cutting when it matures.

Ok, thanks. I found one for $55. How well do you think it'll grow for a Nepenthes beginner? I only have a lowii x ventricosa that kinda limps along. But I think that's because my set up broke and I'm still fixing it. My main problem is low humidity.

The highest it gets is about 50%. Usually 35-ish%. There's only one so I'm not telling you where it is  I'm so excited!

I really hope it truly is a rob. It also is fresh out of TC. Hopefully it survives if I get it.

Arrgh! Fine. Understandable. Regarding the humidity, what you could do is make a rock tray and keep water in it at all times and/or get an air humidifier. I recommend this video Remy made about humidity. Something that works wonders is acclimation via plastic bag. You put the plant in a bag; If highlander: near something cold (like a vent or something) at night, If lowlander: near something hot (like a sunny windowsill), then you slowly move the bag away until it’s not anywhere near the temperature source while at the SAME time you slice it once every day until the bag is shreds(at that point you can just take it off). Did it with my Hamata and now it grows in the same place as my truncata(intermediate).

Yeah, the price really seems to be dropping on RobC. And there's more than one in stock of that particular listing! :)

Yeah, I believe there are 15! I wonder how fresh out of TC they are. They're from a reputable (kinda) grower so maybe bite the bullet (it's a bullet for me, anyways. Don't have much money to my name)? I gotta do it before everyone else snatches them up!

Hey @Sundew69, Idk if you have one by now or not but I recently got the CalCarn TC Rob. I can update its status In a month if you want. I’m growing all my plants under Intermidiate conditions just btw.

Please do! I contacted CalCarn to see how fresh out of TC they were and while I was at it, I asked what they thought about it growing in intermediate temps. They said it would be fine with a 10-20 degree drop at night. I can get like 8 degree drop in winter so I thought I would try a veitchii and/or highland truncata first and see how it goes. I'm really annoyed because I was just gonna buy a veitchii (m) x (m) for only $40 (I also loath spending money and $50 isn't a ton of money, but I just wouldn't be able to stand it if I lost the plant!)! I just missed it  ! Man, you're really testing everything for me lol. A northiana, a hamata and now a rob! I really appreciate you updating me. Thanks!

Oh I don’t think that temperature would be a problem. Predatory Plants grows their Robcantleyi and Jacquelineae in the same room as their Rafflesiana. As for the Veitchii, Red Leaf has some on sale for 60$ rn (yikes)and cross exotic’s has some HL truncataHL truncata at 80$(Honestly probably the best price you’re gonna get).

 Np! I honestly just jump in with these things & see what works. Best way to do it? No, definitely not. Do I do a ton of research beforehand? Yes of course! As with anything.

Yeah, I've seen all of those plants for sale in the links. I would 100% get that truncata (I saw size extra small get sold $100 for the same plant; those that you saw are 4 inches across for $80). That veitchii I've been keeping my eye on for a while. Just haven't decided on anything yet. I did talk to the guy a CE and he said they had more (not surprising as they are SG from Mike Fallen and he only had 4 for sale). I'm gonna PM you in a sec.
