Hello,
I've had this Saracenia for just over a year now and it has started to develop deformed pitchers and others have began to loose colour and dry.
It also needs repotting but I don't know if it's a good idea whilst it isn't doing so well.
Is there anything that I can do?

Not that I know of, I brought it in from dormancy a few months ago, and aside from one or two extra hot days there's been no change. They did get pests like aphids over dormancy but it has grown normal pitchers since they have gone. It's just now that everything is not going well

I'm a newbie. I don't know what is wrong with it. But, I'll pose some questions and give some comments, anyhow.

Could the plant be signaling you that it actually *needs* to be repotted? You said that you've had it over a year. It's usually stated that CPs need repotting after a year or so. Some sarrs, I understand, don't like constant water. Could the potting mix at the bottom of the pot be anaerobic? If no other plants are showing signs of distress, if the plant has not been subjected to any trauma, and no cultural practices have been changed the only difference between when it was doing good and now when it's not doing so good is.....time. What does time affect? ....the growing mix. Just a thought.

Thank you for the replies. I think perhaps the best thing to do is report it then, as there really doesn't seem to be anything else that could make the plant unhappy like this. I usually give the plants a day without watering to keep the soil in good condition.

I live in the UK, the weather has been unusually hot for a few days, but I don't know if that could cause such bad damage.

They are bog plants and when actively growing should be standing in about 1" rain or RO water. I wouldn't repot it now as it will get some set back, just stand it in water, repot in the early spring. I?s it in full sun?

Thanks. I was just a bit concerned because the roots have began to grow out of the pot. Will that be okay until Spring? I usually keep them in those levels of water, although I have been using deionised water as that seems to work well. It's on a South facing windowsill that sticks out a bit, so it gets several hours a day.

It will be OK till sprig if stood in water whilst growing and damp when in dormancy. Does it do dormancy indoors? If you can get it outdoors that would be best, if not then you will need a different strategy.

Last Winter, I had them outside. I was considering having them in a cooler room this year as I had problems with slugs and aphids. I'll try outdoors again if it's best.
