I ordered a potted Big Jaws (medium, but who cares?). I just wanted to know if I should buy some peat moss & perlite. Also, what type of soil is provided in the pot with my VFT?

It will be potted in the soil I use for all of my VFTs: 50% peat, 30% silica sand and 20% perlite.

You won't need to buy any soil for a while as the soil is fresh. You should plan on repotting next spring or in two years, depending on how broken down the soil looks and how the plant is doing.

Ok. Thanks. How do I determine when it's time to repot it? Is there is any info guide on how to repot it?

yeah, you'll definitely notice when it is time to change the soil. instead of looking like soil it will look more like a mud brick ;)

Considering Matt is potting it for you, about a year and a half to two years.

Ok, thanks. By what it sounds like, the extra $2.50 for potted is definitely worth it.

Depends, potting medium is pretty cheap if you can find it locally (which you should be able to).

Yeah, you're definitely going to save money if you buy the potting medium locally. The main problem is that it usually comes in extremely large quantities that some people can't or don't want to deal with, so that's why I offer potted plants and media for sale in the store in small quantities.

What comes in extremely large quantities? Sorry, I didn't really understand what you posted. I'm really a n00b at this.
