Another alternative would be to apply "cheese cloth" across any openings. Skeeters won't be able to get through it.

That would work. I've got a piece of a roll of weed barrier cloth that I thought of using for blocking out mosquitoes. Looking at it, though, there may be some gaps that they could get through. For now I've got my buckets covered with lids and the rest of the water in milk jugs and emptied distilled water jugs. If I opt for a larger container something like the cheesecloth might just be the ticket! Thanks for the idea!
