I was browsing around on different cp sellers websites and found this interesting listing from Sarracenia Northwest.

Sarracenia leucophylla, Lil' Big Mouth

It is reportedly a wide mouthed dwarf standard leuc.

Is this real? I've never seen this cultivar mentioned anywhere else and no other sellers seem to have it. My spidey sense is tingling that this may not grow as advertised.

Thoughts?

Next time they have them in stock, buy one and send it to me. I'll grow it and tell you how it does and if it lives up to its rep.

Hi Davin,

Thank you for your interest in our plants. We may have some available in September. We just divided them, and now we have to wait to see which ones will produce nice pitchers this season. Leucophylla tends to slow down significantly right after division. So, early September is the soonest we will release any. Otherwise, next spring will be the next opportunity.

Good Growing!

"Lil' Big Mouth" is not a Sarracenia cultivar. Sarracenia Northwest (a super reputable nursery with awesome owners) informally names a lot of their clones to keep them separate for breeding/selection purposes. I grow some of their big mouth leucos and they do produce very chunky pitchers come fall.
