I debated whether to clip them or not. On the one hand, all of those dead leaves give the hibernacula more protection from frost. On the other hand, I can't see through all of that mess to spot something going wrong during dormancy. I opted to clip them and stash the pots in the garage during the especially cold parts of winter.

I got two batches of seeds last summer and let them sit outside over the winter to stratify. They're coming along nicely. It'll be interesting to see how they compare to the New Jersey plants.

Drosera hybrida - Butterfly Valley, California

They woke up fairly early. I'm curious to see how they grow this year:
  • Will they produce fertile seeds?
  • Will they go dormant in July (like last year, when I got them) or will they pay attention to the local weather and wait until late September?
