A few photos of false vivipary on a few Venus flytraps that I snapped today while in the greenhouse! Not sure why I'm seeing a very high rate of false vivipary in the greenhouse this year, but my guess is that it has to do with the very high humidity and warm temperatures that I keep the greenhouse at. The plants are looking super robust and the flower stalks are kinda crazy this year!

That would make sense, as those are the conditions that are best to get successful plantlets from flower stalk cuttings. It's like vegetative propagation with the tissue still attached!

I've used various things to get a dark background. In some cases when the nearest object is pretty far away, my macro lens will make it so that the background is very dark or nearly black without having to do anything special. In other cases where I'm photographing in tight quarters with lots of greens and reds around where there isn't enough contrast to make the photos look best, I'll use whatever I have handy to blacken the background. Lately I've been using black blanket draped over a chair and sitting the plants in the chair to take the photos :D I've also been known to use black trash bags, shirts, or whatever is handy to get some contrast
