My butterwort came down with a case of aphids. I did kill them all - or so I thought. But there was always some that survived and came back. Now it's time to drown them. No, you can't use pesticides on butterworts - it kills their sensitive leaves unlike other CPs. Here is how mine is going to be spending the next week:

Any idea how long aphids can live under water?

No idea.. but some must have survived as eggs or in trapped air bubbles... this time, I'll get them all!

The aphids don't get caught on the leaves of the plant?

I thought about eggs as well, but then I realized that aphids give live birth. I've seen photos of it.

So than it's the air bubbles?

I thought that they had the option for leaving eggs as someone else had pointed out on here. I was under the same impression as you. Now I'm not sure what's true. I know that they are born pregnant, which is fascinating on it's own.

Hmm I donno Adam ... As far as I know aphids reproduce a-sexually and also give birth to live young. You didn't see eggs did you? If you did that could mean there is a whole other problem going down in that pot...

They are able to reproduce live offspring as well as eggs that develop outside of the parent, and overwinter wherever they are. good luck

Are aphids those little white things that I see every now and then or the tiny black, like, dots that usually fly around fruit and stuff?

Aphids are tiny green or red-brown plant dwelling insects. Usually you can use lady-bugs to eat the aphids, but I have a funny feeling a lady-bug wouldn't do so well around CPs...

Lol, yeah. Well, thanks for clearing that up. But what does that make the tiny white fly things?

I've only seen damage due to aphids. The other insects don't harm my CPs at all.
