My plants were definitely in the mood for propagation. I did nothing to encourage this, and they decided to crank out a bunch of offshoots last season. Now, the pots are seriously overcrowded, or the soil is old and going "sour", or both. So I divide and repot to prevent them from dying, then sell off a bunch of plants in late spring.

And it's only going to get worse in the spring because I need to divide 10 flytrap pots, and I'm expecting to get 60-80 plants from that.
You've got a home for those plants right here.

Venus Flytraps are a threatened species, but I don't think they'll ever go extinct with all these people here overflowing with flytraps.

Pitcher plants

I ordered a Sarracenia flava var. ornata from David Green, and he threw in a seed-grown freebie. I was very pleased with my purchase; the rhizomes are much bigger than expected, with 2 or 3 large growth points on each one.

Sarracenia flava var. cuprea "Bill Hoyer" x var. ornata "Bulloch Co, Georgia"
Sarracenia flava var. ornata seed-grown, ancestry unknown

After I pot them on Saturday, they'll spend the next few days in the garage due to the winter storm that's hitting the east coast.

Nope. I have to keep my plants outside due to a pygmy cow disguised as a cat. Those 2 species would freeze to death in my winter weather (especially this year, where I've had multiple overnight lows down to 20°F / -6.6°C).

You're other sundews survived that weather? I thought that sundews don't like weather below freezing.

There are tropical and temperate sundews. Temperate go into hybernaculums in winter.

I grow the locals (and their hybrids): D. capillaris, filiformis, and intermedia. They know what to do when winter arrives. My D. tracyi plants (from north Florida) took a bit longer to shut down for the winter, but they went fully dormant, too.

I also got some D. anglica seeds from a guy in Oregon last fall. They've been stratifying outside all winter. I'm not sure if they can handle the warm summers here, but we'll see.
