Assuming you allow plants as pets, maybe the plant pictured (a lampranthus aureus) could have been considered a pet?

Wow it this really that serious? Your pet was an insect?? Please move to April giveaways. Or win the ABC giveaway. You are a leader in that one. Imo a chicken is an animal  and I had 4 chickens and I assure you they are wonderful pets

hollyhock wrote: Mon Mar 28, 2022 8:08 pm Sorry Pitchergrower. You said not fair? How was I to know you don't have any pets? :D. I have 3 dogs one bird, 2 fish and a snail named Gary. One of your plants could have been your pet plant? Am I right? But although I loved the bee I'm just not believing you keep it as a pet.
no cats?

Bill Phoenix I had a wonderful cat named ivy rose. She was a loving tortie . She died way too soon and I just couldn't get another one after her. She still haunts my house in a good way. :D

Cute! Are they Mille fleur? @thepitchergrower chickens are easy and useful pets. I can give you a pair to get started if you ever want some :)
Yes exactly. Gail and Oprah were the black ones. Dottie and bean were the brown ones. Bean was attacked by a hawk and had her entire skull skin ripped off. But my "chookie" rooster saved her. That little egg was all she ever laid. But I loved her so much and she recovered from the attack. Never had feathers on her head again. Looked more like a turkey vulture. Oh the memories :D

I guess chickens are pretty useful (free eggs, free fertilizer), but we've always worried about the neighbors complaining about the noise. :? Then again, I know a neighbor who has plenty of chickens. :)
