People are crossing and growing new plants all of the time. Sometimes one of them will be special enough to be registered as a cultivar.

NO. Typicals are seedgrowns. They can be selected for their special traits. Then I would name the plant with special (and different) traits as a cultivar. So If I got a very special typical, I would then name it, Dionaea M. 'Panguy', then get it registered with ICPS. B52 and G16 would have used to be typicals. Then they would have been selected for their traits and made into their cultivars. The only way to get a B52 is to clone it, Ie, TC or Division. Seed will produce a genetically different offspring.

Now that would be cool. It probably would need to look old and wrinkled to match the name.

Old, wrinkled, shaggy mop on top, some sort of structure that looks like spectacles, etc.

So you would need a combination of Schuppenstiel (for wrinkles) some 'st patricks beard' (for hair). What else? Any ideas?
