So, with the p. orchidioides doing so well on the orchid bark mix, I decided to see how many I could make via stolons. I also took the last three 'gemmae' I had on other mixes (that hadn't died yet) and placed them in the mix to see how they react...

Well, the gammae/tubers/bulbs I placed did not survive...
But....

We have babies!

This plant sends out stolons up to about 3inches away. The last inch or so, they send out roots and if they find a spot they like, they start to develop roots. Then, the atolon shrivels and dries out starting at the mother plant. Really a cool/interesting/weird plant!

I've also noticed some changes in theother plant, looks like she's going dormant? I'm hoping at some point I may get a flower... We'll see...

So they've been in the same soil mix since I originally placed them and showing no signs of slowing down. This year I moved them to my basement that doesn't get warmer than about 74°f and they've never been bigger or grown longer.

I got seeds! Not sure if they're viable or not, but I sowed them on a couple different medias, we'll see if anything sprouts!

"How much light are your plants receiving in the basement?"

I'd have to look at the timer, but I believe it's approximately 12-14 hours. When I notice the leaves starting to form smaller (heading into dormancy) I place them under lights that are on an astronomical timer so that they get a more natural cue to go dormant. I do the same when they're coming out of dormancy.
